The Kwara State Government has announced the release of the 176 residents abd¥cted during the February 3, 2026, t+rrorist att@ck on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, bringing an end to months of uncertainty for the victims and their families.
The announcement was made on Wednesday through the state government’s official Facebook page, where it expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security agencies, and everyone involved in securing the victims’ freedom.
The victims were kidn@pped after suspected Boko Haram-linked extremists stormed the two rural communities on motorcycles in a coordinated att@ck that lasted several hours.
The a§§ault, described as one of the deadliest in Kwara State’s history, reportedly claimed more than 200 lives, left many others injured, destroyed homes and businesses, and forced numerous residents to flee their communities.
Local vigilantes who tried to resist the att@ckers were reportedly overpowered, with some allegedly trapped and b¥rnt alive inside their office.
As of the time of the announcement, the state government had not disclosed the circumstances surrounding the victims’ release or whether any ransom was paid.
